The ACER Rio de Janeiro was founded by Mestre Celso Carvalho Nascimento in the 70's. Mestre Celso is 70 Yrs of age and has 50 Yrs teaching Capoeira, Mestre Celso is a living legend, the oldest active Master in Rio de Janeiro and UK.
Mestre Celso trained Capoeira with only one Master, one of the most respected Masters in Brazil for bringing Capoeira to Rio and because of his challenges to Helio Grace, Robison Grace, Mestre Bimba' students and many others.
Mestre Artur Emidio is 78 Yrs of age, he started Capoeira in childhood with a very old Master who learnt from an ex-slave. In 1954 Mestre Artur opened a Capoeira School in Rio de Janeiro and soon after Mestre Celso started training.
They're from the time when Capoeirista used to use Navalha, Lenco de Seda and lots of Malandragem, what we don't see anymore now days.
Mestre Celso style of Capoeira is UNIQUE!
"Believe
it or not, it doesn't matter where I go to play Capoeira, but I've
never seen Capoeira like mine and people always come to ask me
what style I play! " C. Meste Rodrigo
Mestre Celso is one of few Masters graded as Cordel
Branco by Artur Emidio. Mestre Celso has graded two Branco+Verde
Mestres and one Branco+Azul
Even after 57 yrs teaching Capoeira Mestre Celso has
not yet graded anyone as Cordel Branco!
The main reason for
this is because he is very strict with his graduations, all his
students have to reach very high standards, not only physically
but mentally as well.
